Privacy
policy

Last updated: October 31, 2026. In short: your messages and your tree are visible only to your family members. No advertising, no tracking tools, no artificial intelligence, and we never sell your data.

The Plan Familial app is published by Soppewe Tchawou Jérémie Arno, an individual based in Quebec, Canada. He is the person in charge of protecting personal information under Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

For any question, request or complaint: supportplanfamilial@gmail.com.

What you give us

•
Account: your phone number (sign-in with an SMS code), or your Google or Apple account (its identifier and, if the provider shares it, your email address); your first name, last name and, if you wish, a profile photo.
•
Creating a family: the family's name and, if you wish, an email address, so that we can reach the family.
•
Chat: messages, photos, videos, voice messages, documents, stickers, polls, events, reactions and replies.
•
Family tree: for each person added, first name, last name, gender, dates and places of birth and, where applicable, of death, city of residence, photo and family links.
•
Stories, memory spaces (tributes, candles) and family language (words, phrases, voice recordings).
•
Reports: the reported message, the person reporting it and the decision taken.

What is created when you use the app

•
Subscription: plan, dates, and payment status sent by Apple or Google. We never see your banking details.
•
A notification token for each device, to send you notifications.
•
The "… is typing" indicator, erased after a few seconds.
•
Technical data needed for the service: account identifier, message dates, our servers' technical logs, and an error log kept on your phone.

What we do not collect

Not your location, your contacts or your browsing history. No audience analytics or advertising tools. The camera, gallery and microphone are only used when you choose to send a photo, a video or a voice message.

✓
To create and secure your account.
✓
To run the chat, the tree, the statistics, memories and family language, and show them to your family members.
✓
To manage the family's subscription.
✓
To send you the notifications you have accepted.
✓
To handle reports, prevent abuse and answer you when you write to us.
✓
To tell the family about a decision that concerns it (read-only, suspension), in the app and, if an address was given when the family was created, by email.

We do so because it is needed for the service you asked for, with your consent (notifications, photos, recording your voice) or to keep the service secure. No artificial intelligence is used.

•
Your family members see your first name, last name, photo, phone number, your messages, the tree and the memories.
•
The head of the family can also change the family's name, link tree profiles to accounts, appoint family language guardians and hand over the role.
•
Other families and the public have no access to your family.
•
The Plan Familial team can technically access the hosted data. It only looks at a family's content when necessary: a report (the reported message and its context), a support request or a legal obligation.

We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.

They process some information on our behalf, only for the purposes described here. All are located in the United States.

•
Google Firebase: sign-in, database, file storage, server functions.
•
Twilio: sending the sign-in code by SMS.
•
Google and Apple: sign-in with a Google or Apple account, notifications on Android and iPhone, in-app purchases.
•
RevenueCat: tracking subscriptions bought on the App Store and Google Play.
•
Expo (650 Industries): delivering notifications.
•
Resend: sending emails from the Plan Familial team.
•
Vercel: hosting this website.
•
Google Fonts and YouTube: animated stickers are loaded from Google, and the preview of a YouTube video shared in the chat from YouTube. Your phone then sends them its IP address.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

It is hosted by Google Firebase in the United States, so outside Quebec and Canada, and may be subject to the laws of that country. We have assessed that these providers offer adequate protection: they are widely used services that commit by contract to protecting data.

•
Account and profile: as long as your account exists.
•
Messages, tree and memories: as long as the family exists, because they are shared between its members. You can delete your own messages at any time.
•
A family without an active subscription: it stays read-only for one year. If the subscription is not renewed within that time, the family is deleted with all its content (messages, tree, photos, memories).
•
Notification tokens: until the device signs out, the account is deleted, or they expire.
•
The family's email address: as long as the family exists.
•
Family language recordings: until they are withdrawn by you, a guardian or the head of the family.
•
After an account is deleted: the former account identifier, the link to its tree profile and, for a Google or Apple account, its identifier at the provider, to recognise the person if they come back. You can ask for them to be erased.
•
On your phone: the latest messages and your profile, for quick display, erased when you sign out.

In the app: Profile › Delete my account. What is deleted or kept is detailed on the Delete my account page.

The tree may include people who do not use the app: children, relatives, deceased people. Members who add them must have the right to do so, for example the person's agreement, or a parent's for a child. Anyone in a tree can ask us to correct or remove their information: supportplanfamilial@gmail.com.

The family language keeps the family's words in writing and in recordings. Your voice is only recorded with your agreement, asked before your first recording.

•
Before approval, you, the language guardians and the head of the family can listen to the recording; after approval, the whole family. Your name goes with it.
•
You can withdraw a recording, or your agreement, at any time in "My contributions".
•
Your recordings are never sold, used to train artificial intelligence, or used to recognise you by your voice.
•
We keep the date and version of the text you accepted, and the date of any withdrawal, so that we can prove your choice.

You must be at least 14 to use Plan Familial. By accepting the terms of use and this policy when first opening the app, the person confirms being that age and gives their consent. If the law of your country requires a higher age, a parent's agreement is needed. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 14, we will delete it.

✓
Exchanges between the app and our servers are encrypted (HTTPS), and data is encrypted on Google's servers.
✓
Access rules ensure that only a family's members can read its messages and its tree.
✓
Sign-in uses a one-time code sent by SMS, or your Google or Apple account.

Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. No method being perfect, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In case of an incident presenting a serious risk, we will notify you and the authorities, as the law requires.

Depending on the laws that apply to you (Law 25 in Quebec, PIPEDA in Canada, the GDPR in the European Union, or the laws of your country), you can:

•
access your information and get a copy;
•
have inaccurate information corrected, most of it directly in the app;
•
have your information deleted, in particular by deleting your account;
•
withdraw your consent (notifications, recording your voice);
•
object to some processing or ask for it to be limited.

Write to supportplanfamilial@gmail.com: we reply within 30 days, and may ask you to confirm your identity. You can also complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, or to the data protection authority of your country.

This site uses no cookies and no tracking tools, and loads nothing from other sites. Its host, Vercel, keeps technical logs (IP address, page requested) to run and protect the site.

We may change it to follow changes in the app or the law. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page. If there is an important change, we will tell you in the app.
